A sudden health crisis changed everything
Elton John’s health scare began in July 2024. He contracted serious eye infection. The infection had devastating consequences. It left him completely blind in one eye and with limited vision in the other.
The singer later revealed that the condition drastically changed his daily life. At one point, he said he could not see, read, or watch anything at all.
For an artist whose life revolves around music, the situation became even more painful because it affected his ability to work. Elton admitted that he could not create new music because he was unable to read lyrics or scripts.
Even watching projects he had already worked on became impossible.
Unable to watch his own projects
The vision loss did not only impact Elton’s future work. It also meant he missed out on enjoying major projects connected to his life and career.
Among them was the film about his life titled “Elton John: Never Too Late.”
He was also unable to watch the musical adaptation of “The Devil Wears Prada,” another project he had been involved in.
David Furnish shares a hopeful update
Despite the challenges, David Furnish recently shared a reassuring update about Elton’s health.

“He’s great. He’s battling on,” David said. “He’s keeping busy and moving forward.”
According to him, Elton is now spending more time at home, focusing on what matters most: family.
“He’s happy being at home as a family with our sons,” Furnish added.
